A number of years ago some of my retired clients started saying to me that they wished they’d “never done the RRSP thing”.
When I asked why, they commented that they were told to take the tax break today because when they retired they would be in a lower tax bracket and thus it would work to their benefit. They said, however, that when they retired, they were not in a lower tax bracket, they had no children to “write off”, and they were totally dependent on the RRSP income.

At about the same time young and middle-aged people started asking me, “what is wrong with us? We are doing everything that we are told to do but we can’t seem to get ahead financially. We feel like a hamster on the wheel – running hard but going nowhere”.

These comments caused me to step back from the financial services industry (which I had been in since 1992) and ask the question: “Is there something wrong with the message that the financial industry is giving to the public?”
As one of my mentors states – “What the wealthy know about money and what is being taught to the public are two different messages.”

In 2012 I was introduced to the Infinite Banking Concept. This was revolutionary to me as I had been trained that all people need is term life insurance, RRSP’s and mutual funds.
