I grew up in western Nebraska on the farm and many of my family members are still active in agriculture. Before my insurance career, I managed a shoe store, was part-owner of a shoe store and spent 9 years as a newspaper publisher. These experiences have given me a broad understanding of the business community, and how business and individuals are affected by the actions of government and taxes.

I began my insurance career with a farm organization which brought me to central Nebraska. Over time the insurance company I was contracted with was absorbed by a larger company which proved to be at odds with my own personal philosophy of how to best serve my clients.

At one point I was asked by a pastor, “Where can I put my money, so I don’t need to worry about supporting companies that invest in actions contrary to my Christian faith?’ I kept asking investment contacts affiliated with my insurance company about this and was told that there were no such investment options.

In 2004 I went independent with my own company, now known as Spencer Legacy Insurance. With this change I met people from the investments world who answered the above question and was directed to a mutual fund family with Christian values and zero tolerance for companies that invested in anti-Christian, anti-family companies. It was one of those investment contacts that introduced me to the Infinite Banking concept.

At the first meeting with this contact, I was introduced to Nelson Nash’s book Becoming Your Own Banker. As the Infinite Banking Concept was explained—along with the calling of Christian advisors to help clients steward what God has entrusted to them—I realized I had found something truly unique. A company and a philosophy that genuinely place the client’s needs above their own.

I began to study and implement the Infinite Banking Concept with my clients and have been an avid student and advocate. My primary focus is to teach clients, individuals and businesses, the lifelong need of financing, the generational benefits, and the freedom and wealth that can be achieved outside of Wall Street through Infinite Banking.
